The gentle sloping beaches provide varied breaks and the summer season will offer generally more calm waves to start your surfing journey. For those who enjoy the long board then the breaks are best around la Tranche, la Terrier and les Conches in the south, and la Tranchet near les Sables d’Olonne and la Sauveterre further north in the Vendée. For the short boarders and body boarders then most beaches will have some useable surf, though if you want the best surf then the long boarding beaches are your best option.
